Mentoring

Global Supply Chain and Logistics Mentoring ‘Light’ Programme developed by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in Switzerland  (CSCMP CH)

Looking to inspire and advise young professionals?

Seeking to connect with experienced industry professionals?

Looking to gain some new skills or industry insight?

Looking for your next career move?

If so, the new supply chain and logistics mentoring “light” programme is for you!

It is a global programme and you do NOT need to be based in Switzerland to participate. Like supply chains, our network and our mentoring light program is global and open to all, wherever you are located.

The mentoring “light” programme works as follows:

  1. It is free and you do not need to be a member of CSCMP to join. It is open to everyone with an interest in global supply chains and logistics.
  2. Register your interest to be a mentor and/or mentee via this link or by copying/pasting this link into your browser : https://forms.office.com/r/WawyY7gg70
  3. We will provide some written guidelines on how to get started. You can already read the guidelines in the additional resources section at the bottom of this page.
  4. As soon as we find a suitable match, we will inform you of the mentor and/or mentee with whom you have been matched.
  5. After we have done the introductions via email, the mentee is responsible for setting up the first introduction call with the mentor.
  6. It is then for the mentor/mentee to decide whether to continue the mentoring conversations and, if so, the frequency and format (virtual or face to face)
  7. We recommend to allow for at least 45 minutes per month, which can be done virtually or face to face, or a combination of both. We know people are busy, so it is for the mentor/mentee to organize the ongoing frequency of meetings.
  8. The program continues for as long as the mentor and mentee are finding it beneficial. There is no obligation to commit to a specific period of time.
  9. If you have questions about the mentoring light program, please check the FAQ section first (see below). If you still have questions, please contact the mentorship chair. See contact details at the bottom of this page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is the mentoring light program only available to people living and working in Switzerland?

No, it is open to anyone in the world. The program is managed from Switzerland

Do I need to pay anything or be a member of CSCMP to be part of the mentoring light program?

No, it is open to anyone with an interest in global supply chains, logistics, procurement and associated topics.

What’s the difference between the official CSCMP mentoring program and this mentoring light programme?

The mentoring “light” programme described above is distinct from the official CSCMP mentoring programme. The official CSCMP mentoring program is only available to CSCMP members and provides access to more advanced tools and resources. It is highly recommended if you are a CSCMP member. You can learn more about the official CSCMP mentoring programme via this link.

Who would I contact if there are any problems?

You can contact the mentoring chair, see contact details at the bottom of this page.

What ongoing support and help will I receive as a mentor or mentee?

Please note, this is a mentoring-light program. So, although we will help when we can, we do expect the mentors and mentees to take the initiative and find the information they need. If you are looking for a more comprehensive mentoring scheme where you are actively supported, we recommend the official CSCMP mentoring scheme (see question 3)

Do I need to have experience and knowledge about supply chain and logistics to join the program?

No, in fact, if you don’t have any experience or knowledge about logistics and supply chain, but want to get some, the mentoring light program is a good way to answer any questions you have about logistics and supply chains

Are there any restrictions or can anyone join the mentoring light program?

You must be 18 years or older to be a mentor or mentee. That is the only restriction.

Additional resources and information:

We recommend reading through this useful guide if you are not sure how to get started with a mentoring discussion (the below is useful for mentors and mentees)

The roles of mentor and mentee can often be blurred, as this article explains, mentors can learn as much from their mentees as the mentees can learn from their mentors.
